CORRER TIENE UNA FRÁGIL MEMORIA


Causa sorpresa comprobar como las circunstancias actuales -una lesión, en mi caso- te apartan por caminos a los que hace poco eras fiel. 
Informaban en la radio sobre la celebración del Maratón de Sevilla y yo he he estado totalmente ajeno a esta noticia, cuando en noviembre mi propósito era repetir la participación de 2009.
No ha pasado mucho tiempo y ya siento la fecha muy lejana e, incluso, remota, anclada en otros tiempos. Así de ingrato es este deporte: atesora una frágil memorial. Es más, apenas hace unos meses de la Subida al Veleta y también ya me parece lejana y remota la fecha y la gesta. 
Sí, se trata de un deporte que no tiene apenas pasado. No vive de los recuerdos. Tal vez porque, como sí ocurre en otros deportes, este deporte es solitario y no existe demasiado componente social. Tengo recuerdos de mi etapa en el fútbol. Los goles, las victorias, las decepciones, todo se sigue compartiendo y reeditando de alguna manera porque no depende sólo del olvidadizo recuerdo personal sino que son vivencias compartidas con otra gente y a esa gente aún la ves por ahí y aún comentas todo ese trabajo de equipo. En el mundo del atletismo eso es mucho más difícil a tener vocación solitaria. 
También los corredores somos muy dados a infravalorar lo que algún día conseguimos por poco que haya sido. Si hemos logrado acabar un maratón, al cabo de algún tiempo siempre solemos sorprendernos de que hayamos llegado a meta o que hayamos corrido en un tiempo concreto. Lógicamente, esa visión decadente es mucho más patente cuando hay una lesión de por medio. 
Sin embargo, nada de eso que sentimos es demasiado real. De hecho, tras esos pensamientos negativos suele llegar el día en el que corramos otro maratón o varios y las aguas vuelvan a su cauce. 
Ocurre que la inactividad -más que la lesión- te suele despojar de ese ánimo competitivo o de ese entrenamiento intenso que de manera habitual hacías, y al despojarte de todo eso pareciera que tu pasado está vacío de kilómetros. En todo esto pensaba esta mañana, así que me despojé de las telarañas mentales y sabedor que no podría hacer un maratón por ahora, me deshice en pedales y me sentí fuerte subiendo repechos, haciendo kilómetros difíciles y sudando encima de la bici a la espera de tiempos mejores. Sin lugar a dudas eso refrescó mi memoria.
